Butterfly Words

With my pen,
I pin
my thoughts and feelings,
as butterfly words,
to the page.
Stab them,
one by one,
and hold them fast;
to better understand
the shades of meaning
on their wings.

  4. Great use of metaphor in your poem! Once written down words help us to understand what was just fleeting around us indeed.

  5. As Gabriella said, excellent metaphor. I do think sometimes we find different meanings in even our own words when they are 'held fast' on the page for a while.

  6. You capture word, butterflies and irony here--how much easier to see and how very very dead!

  8. It's like all those exquisite little birds that just won't hold still long enough to get a good look at them.

  10. Short & crisps like the 'Metaphors' by Sylvia Plath. I enjoyed it, thanks.
