The future's in a state of flux.
Possibilities dance in my thoughts
like distant galaxies
in the night sky.
Stars you can wish on,
but they offer no warmth.
I'm on the right path,
and coursing with strength.
I strut,
even in the face of uncertainty,
I'm all good.
So much that was wrong is now right again,
and I sigh with relief.
My compass is true,
and if I keep to my North,
it will be just fine.
I can taste the futures on the tip of my tongue,
without drinking too deep,
without sculling the full vessels,
without diving in blind,
without drowning in them.
With wisdom,
all will be right with my world.
I like that you can see a good future,, pessimism is rarely constructive
ReplyDeleteHow good it will be to feel satisfied at the end of one's life...apart for wanting to to do a little bit more.
ReplyDeleteWorrying about future takes its toll on present, just flow the current moments.
ReplyDeleteAgain - I find that I agree with Vandana - and add that being true to oneself seems to ring clearly throughout this piece
ReplyDeleteIt's wise to stay on the positive track and just be...
ReplyDeleteI felt the optimism in your poem, the hope as the possibilities dance in your thoughts, and the strength felt on this part of your journey!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the positive and optimistic tone of your poem. Like Vanadana, I know that worrying can spoil the moment and the moments to come.
ReplyDeleteluv the wisdom of your hope and the expectation of something better
ReplyDeletehave a nice week
much love...
Optimism is welcome these days. The possibilities are certainly there, a wonderful perspective on uncertainty. Good title.
ReplyDeleteI especially like your opening stanza.........great imagery. Nice note of hope and optimism in this poem. Cool!
ReplyDeleteThings being right again do bring a sigh of relief! I like the imagery in your first stanza too.
ReplyDeleteWell thought out. I like that you move for what is good while still looking around, it feels honest.
ReplyDeleteGood work... and yes, you're right. :-)
ReplyDeleteFabulous...I especially loved
ReplyDelete'My compass is true,
and if I keep to my North,
it will be just fine.'
It is finding that true North that is the trick....

This is so full of hope....and I especially like this part:
ReplyDelete"Possibilities dance in my thoughts
like distant galaxies
in the night sky."
What a unique and gorgeous depiction you have painted with your words.
I love the second line about possibilities and the overall optimism of this poem.
ReplyDeleteHope matters. So does optimism and confidence
ReplyDeletegood one
I loved the sixth stanza. It resonates well with the reader, perhaps a bit of empathy too going in. Smiles.
